On April 14, 2016, Friendly Inn Settlement House hosted the MomsFirst Literacy Kick-Off. The Kick-Off celebrated the partnership with the Cleveland Kids' Book Bank which will allow MomsFirst Community Health Workers to provide 3 board books to every newborn baby and 1 book per month until baby turns 2 years old. Facilitators from Daily Dose of Reading, Cleveland Public Library and Stretch and Catch shared literacy tips and led literacy activities for attendees and their children. They all emphasized the importance of talking, singing, playing, and of course, reading to children of all ages daily.
